“Red” is the first piece in a series exploring the rainbow chakra system, delving into the intricate connections between color, vibration, and the human experience. This vibrant composition features multiple women, with the central figure adorned with the molecular structure of alizarin on her chest, symbolizing a deep connection to the essence of the color red.
Surrounding the central figure are cosmic friends, each embodying the dynamic interplay of complementary colors. The rich reds are harmonized with lush greens and contrasted beautifully with vivid yellows, creating a visually stimulating and balanced artwork.
Notable elements include the cochineal bug, a historical source of red dye, and the rosemary plant, which adds a touch of nature and symbolism of remembrance and fidelity. The swirling green ribbon adorned with musical notes (G#, A, and A#) represents the idea that these notes fall within the same vibrational bandwidth (400 - 484.14 THz) as the color red in the visible light spectrum, reflecting the fascinating concept that sensory organs can pick up vibrational information.
Inspired by Luca Turin’s discoveries about scent receptors, the piece poses intriguing questions about the potential for the eye and other sensory organs to perceive vibrations. It suggests that different body tissues might resonate with specific frequencies of the visible light spectrum and explores the idea that music and color could be used purposefully to enhance health and well-being.
“Red” invites viewers to consider the interconnectedness of their senses and the vibrational harmony that exists within and around them, blending scientific inquiry with artistic expression.
Notes on Frequencies:
The visible light spectrum for the color red falls within the 400 - 484.14 THz range (Note: THz is used for light frequencies). The corresponding musical notes G#, A, and A# do indeed fall within the same vibrational bandwidth, aligning with the concept that our sensory organs might detect these vibrations, resonating with the root chakra.
